It all started in a Joo Chiat shophouse attic in 2019 — open only on Saturdays, debuting our first collection in a packed showroom.

It started from one simple question: Why are price markups for designer-quality eyewear so high? 

​

It turns out high-end fashion labels sell logo licenses to a few corporations who churn out glasses, and then pile on costs through multiple distributors. 

​

So we tried something different — partnering directly with our manufacturers, in a direct-to-consumer model. We use the same premium materials as luxury brands, and handcraft them in the same factories. 

​

After many happy reviews, media buzz, and studios at Haji Lane and Keong Saik, we’ve now landed on Orchard Road! We’re proud to call 15,000 (and growing!) friends wearers of Monocle - each with their own favourite frame and colourway.
